Brno Pride Week 2024 said goodbye with a spectacular party at the První patro club. DJs Kar'Ma, KISTENN and DJ Usagi stood behind the mixer and got the crowd dancing. Ivory Divine, Tiny Beat and Modragon cirkus lit up the evening with their performances. It was: Love like Brno!
After the rainbow parade returned to the Zelný trh, the Pride Park program continued. The main star was, of course, Aiko, the Czech representative in Eurovision. In the rainy weather we were also warmed up by a fire show from Mondragon and a zouk style performance. In the meantime, DJ Kistenn and DJ FVLCRVM played for us, and the whole afternoon was moderated by the friendly Šimoh Hrdlička.
On Saturday, May 25, we returned the rainbow parade to Brno! Thank you to all the participants who were not deterred even by the rain. Some Brno companies and Czech politicians also expressed their support for the LGBTQ+ community. And American Ambassador Bijan Sabet proudly walked at the head of the procession.
We were transported to the world of fantasy, drag and burlesque with Zorya Blue, Šimon Hrdlička, Barbarea, Ivy Airy, Creative Swine, Lotta Love and others in the first Queer Cabaret in Brno.
In this talk we explored how Ridiculous Theatre, a riotous model of LGBTQ+ theatre-making in 1960s and 1970s New York, impacted the global world of popular music.
Forum Theater is not your regular form of theater where you can passively watch a performance. Forum Theater invited us to play a part in the story and open dialogue with actors. For this activity we were joined by the Cabinet of the Theater of the Oppressed MUNI PED and the Center of the Theater of the Oppressed.
An unforgettable evening of passionate Latin American rhythms! We practiced, danced and laughed together in the swing of Salsa with our amazing lectors Verča and Jimmy.
Knowing about the city and it's history can materialize it for you and help you feel more welcome. That's what we tried to achieve by hosting this walk – giving a perspective on important places which played a role in it's queer history, and write it's history today. So we can all feel welcome in this beautiful city.
